Special and important place in Christianity is the worship of the remains of the dead of the righteous, or, to put it simply, the relics. Catholics mostly widespread veneration of the relics (mummified remains) or imperishable bodies. But with the right approach to understanding the quantities of the bodies,relics and other things pop up numerous deceptions and people worship and pray over the sacks of wool.
The Orthodox have somewhat extended the worship of relics, and the worship not only bones, but also the pieces of clothing of the bodies, parts of bodies or ashes.
How many saints, parts of their bodies, pieces of clothing there, really?
We present excerpts from the magazine “Revolution and the Church”, 1920, No. 9-12 “Report of the VIII-th Department of the National Commissariat of Justice of the Congress of Soviets on the autopsy of the relics”: “the 22nd of October, 1918, when receiving the liturgical account of the property of the Alexander-Svirsky monastery, Petrozavodsk lips., in cast cancer, weighing more than 20 pounds, instead of the “incorruptible” of the relics of Alexander Svirsky was discovered wax doll.”
The news, published by the Soviet government in the press caused intense excitement among the Church officials, and among the masses. Do the same people began to demand inspection of the contents in rucks and caskets for relics. Based on this, set up a special Commission that in some provinces, in the presence of experts and representatives of the clergy, had 63 of the autopsy, which was discovered a lot of fraud on the part of the clergy.
Was, for example, that some silver tombs, often glittering with precious stones, had either decayed into dust, bone, or imitation of the bodies with iron, wrapped in tissue scaffolds, ladies stockings, boots, gloves, cotton wool, dyed in a solid color paperboard etc.
Immediately began to receive signals from the Patriarchal office, calling for public examination and inspection of the relics of saints, to “eliminate any reason to mockery and temptation” cleaning cancer from such items, such as boxes of sardines, brooches with the inscription “Shura” etc “Finding” these items in the hands of the “Holy relics” was accurately recorded in the autopsy report, signed by the representatives of the clergy.
We give examples of protocols of inspection:
“Abraham the Martyr, Vladimir 12 February 1919 and removing covers was discovered wool fresh origin, in which lay the bones of a group not one person, at least two. One bone on the outer appearance different from all the other freshness, owing to its density to white. Inside the skull candy.
Sergius of Radonezh, Sergiev, Moscow lips. 11 APR 1919 moth-Eaten rags, wool, dilapidated human bones, a mass of dead moths, butterflies, larvae. In the skull in provoschen paper of recent origin light brown-reddish hair.
Prince Vladimir, Novgorod on 3 April 1919 a Pile of black bones, rags and dust, a skull, split into two halves. Any resemblance to a human skeleton chest has not. On the bones of any limb. The remains of leather boots of machine production. A pile of dust visible cocoons dried worms.
Macarius Zabinski. G. Belev., Tula of lips. March 16, 1919 the Tomb was empty. Due to the guidance of the clergy that the power of “resting under a bushel”, was dug the grave under the Shrine to a depth of 5 yards, no sign of “relics” was not found.
Paul Obnorsky, the village of Voskresenskoe, Lubensk. . September 26, 1920 a Few boards, old coins, Bank of fixatoare of the company “Brocard”, shavings, earth, pieces of wood and bricks.”
It is clear that the finding of numerous relics of the saints – it is difficult, especially when each parish is willing to gain at least a part of the Shrine. From the relics and parts of saints in unimaginable quantities. So, Andrew turned 5 bodies, 6 heads and 17 hands. At St Anne’s 2 bodies and 8 heads. The same number of goals and St. Philip. John the Baptist 10 bodies and 7 “true head”, and this is despite the fact that, according to Christian legend, the body of St. John, were burned along with his head cut off.
But the continuation of selective and is not a complete list of the relics of spontaneous klonirovaniya:
Benedict – 3 bodies and 4 heads;
Erasmus – 11 bodies;
Dorothea – 6 tel;
Stefan – 4 bodies and 8 heads;
William – 7 bodies and 10 heads;
Elena – 4 body and 5 heads;
Isaiah the Prophet – 3 body;
Jerome – 2 bodies, 4 heads and 63 of the finger;
Juliana – bodies 20 and 26 goals;
Luka – 8 bodies and 9 goals;
Peter – 16.
Fedora – 4 bodies and 6 heads.
The full list of duplicates will take a few more pages.
60-ies of the 20th century was marked by the crisis of the Vatican, in consequence of which the latter repented their sins and demoted many saints, known around the world. As an example we give the deprivation of all ranks and grades from George. The reason – it never existed. But never existed Holy revealed 30 bodies.
Also was demoted and Nicholas. The reason for the forced “resignation” is the same as George. Catholics also admitted never existed a list of its saints, among which, for example, St. Valentine (the one after whom the February 14 is celebrated Valentine’s day). However, the relics of all these saints are.
However, the list of shrines is not confined to the relics, fragments and particles of various items we have around the world. Note the hand of Mary Magdalene and the particle cross on which Jesus was crucified Christ. However, if all available through the world of particles, then they can be around hundreds of crosses and dozens of hands. Apparently the cross was inconceivably large, and the nails, spent Christ gathered around in the world in the amount of 1235 pieces!
And here is a short list of other Christian relics. There are truly amazing, beyond the understanding of things:
A piece of window through which the Archangel Gabriel appeared to Mary;
The candle, which shone at the birth of Jesus;
Rags with the blood of the Holy virgin;
Tears Of The Virgin;
The Milk Of The Virgin;
Hay from the manger in which Jesus lay;
The hair of the infant Jesus;
The Tears Of Jesus;
The foreskin of Jesus;
The stone on which Jesus sat;
The relics of the cock, prokurative Peter;
The robe in which Jesus was led to Calvary;
Box with the last breath of Jesus;
The blood of Jesus, gathered at the foot of the cross;
Shreds of the shroud of Jesus;
Crown of thorns (kept in the Cathedral of Notre Dame);
Silver dish, on which lay the head of John the Baptist;
Dishes from the last supper;
A nail of St. Paul;
The remains of the garments of the apostles;
The vessel with the sweat of St. Michael, collected after his struggles with the Devil;
The bones of the ass on which Jesus entered Jerusalem (in Verona the skeleton, and in Genoa the tail;
Chihi the Holy spirit;
The finger of the Holy Ghost (!);
The bones of cows, dream of the Egyptian Pharaoh.
In November 2002 showed even the sandals of Christ (stored in the Prüm). Also there are two table involved in the last supper, one cedar, located in Italy, one oak is located in Austria. A separate, very large quantities presents the last supper.
Scraps of the shroud of the Lord would be enough for a decent sail, you can even find the relics cucarachero cock. It seems that Christ went not students, and collectors of different things and objects for posterity.
Many well-known and revered relics were in fact fakes, for example, the relics of St. Rosalia were the bones of a goat, and a spectral analysis of the shroud of Turin showed that it was made in the XIV century. In March 1990, the year the British Museum was held a huge exhibition of the shroud of Turin with the telling title: “Fake. The art of trickery”.
It seems the Church does not hurry with the burial of their corpses, because they can make some more particles for even greater worship and chanting.
